James L. Rubart
When James was ten, his biggest dream was to be a novelist after reading The Chronicles of Narnia. In eighth grade the dream took a major hit when, after taking a journalism class (loved it) and trying out at the end of the year tried out for the school paper. He was rejected. In that moment, James buried the dream and listened to a lie that sank its claws deep into his heart: “You can’t write.” But the dream refused to die. He dabbled in short stories and went to a few seminars in his 20s, but never showed his writing to anyone.
In 2002, his dream came alive again. His wife went on a fast for reasons that she didn't know at the time. After two and a half days, James felt God say, “I’ve given you the skill and desire to write, when are you going to step into your destiny?” James decided to dive full-force into writing my first novel (Rooms) and finished it in late ’05. It was rejected and ultimately purchased in early summer 2008. It took significant perseverance and belief. He encourages everyone to keep pressing into your dreams. Reject the lie and embrace the truth that you have a role, a purpose that only you can fulfill. Connect with James here:
